Problem Solution
Loose Band or Bracket

If the band or bracket is attached to the wire, leave it in place. If uncomfortable, place orthodontic wax on it. If it comes out completely, wrap band or bracket in tissue

Loose Wire

Try to place the wire back in with tweezers. If that is not possible, clip the wire with fingernail clippers behind the last tooth to which it is securely fastened. If uncomfortable, place wax on it.

Poking Wire

Try to push the poking wire down with a spoon or pencil eraser. If not possible, place wax on it.

Loose Appliance If appliance is sticking or poking, place wax on it.
Spacer is Out

This is not an emergency. Please call the office to make an appointment.

Retainer/Headgear
Doesn’t Fit

This is not an emergency. Please call the office to have it adjusted.

Lip Bumper Comes Out

Put it back in the tubes on the bands. If it comes out again, please call our office.

Soreness from Elastic Wear

Take a pain reliever such as Tylenol® or ibuprofen and continue wearing elastics.

Problems Turning Expander (seems to be stuck or extreme discomfort) Stop turning and call the office for an appointment.
